Why Jam Coding?

Jam Coding were established in 2014 to address the digital divide. Our absolute passion is to ensure as many young people as possible access our workshops to have better prospects in their future.

Our Code Coaches have the technical and subject knowledge to have an instant impact on the quality of computing in your school. Even if as a teaching team you are proficient in the delivery of Coding and Computing our team can help create a real buzz around the subject with our Enrichment Sessions and Extra-Curricular activities.

Further to that we bring our own equipment into your school. This makes us a cost-effective way to raise the level of computing in your school. Not only do you get the equipment you get access to over 300 hours of resources and materials!

After School Clubs

These are incredibly popular as they tend to be parent paid and therefore free for the school. The clubs run half-termly and we run them for KS2 and KS1. They include a range of different topics, including game building, robotics, stop-motion animation, web building, code quests, Minecraft challenges and many others.

In order to run a club we just need to know a time and date to come into the school to speak to the budding coders (this is usually a couple of weeks before term end). We bring letters, process payments on our website and email registers to the school office.

Curriculum Delivery

We work in schools to deliver the curriculum. This is popular as both PPA Cover and CPD for teachers. The beauty of this method is that schools access our knowledge and equipment and can therefore accelerate their Computing Provision very quickly.

In the case of CPD we work with class teachers to grow their confidence in the delivery of the subject. We also work on strategies to embed coding and computing in wider subjects and school life.

Enrichment & Digital Safety Workshop

We provide one-off enrichment and digital safety workshops for our schools. These can be used to highlight a certain computing curriculum area, for cross-curricular subject delivery or just as fun or reward sessions. We run sessions in robotics, coding, digital safety and citizenship, stop motion and much more. We are able to tailor-make these sessions to fit in with the school’s requirements. We can provide evidence of learner work to demonstrate what the school is doing around the subject of computing and digital safety. Schools typically use these in assemblies, on their websites and to generally show-off the amazing work, and knowledge of the children!

The sessions were well planned out, delivered with confidence and enthusiasm and we had great reviews from both the younger and the older children. Both members of school staff were hugely impressed with the delivery of the sessions and gained some insight into areas of computing which we were otherwise unsure or unfamiliar with. Overall, amazing sessions delivered and we look forward to working with Jam Coding during the next academic year at school.

Miss C Day, St Bartholomew’s Primary School, Kent

In school we wanted to give computing a real boost but the cost of equipment and staff training was always a stumbling block. Jam Coding have come into our school and within a few sessions elevated the quality of work in computing. The children have loved the sessions which are far more sophisticated and challenging than we could have managed ourselves. Well worth it!

Mr S Lawman, St Joseph’s, Chorley

We really enjoyed the Jam Coding workshop. The children were excited and enthused by the project and activities they took part in and we look forward to welcoming them to run more afterschool clubs next year.
